Start here: your first result in four steps
- Pick the job: convert an existing script, generate from an idea, or fix and analyze code you already have.
- Give complete input, including alerts, plots, lot sizing, stops and session filters.
- Compile in MetaEditor or cTrader and compare with the original on the same symbol and timeframe.
- Backtest with realistic costs and forward-test on a demo account before trading.
Strategy Converter helps traders and developers translate TradingView Pine Script indicators and strategies into MetaTrader-ready MQL4 or MQL5 source code. It is for people who have a trading idea on one platform and need a practical starting point on another, including researchers comparing implementations, traders adapting their own scripts, and developers reducing repetitive translation work. The result is editable source code to inspect and continue developing, not a compiled executable or a guarantee of trading performance.
How to convert a trading strategy
Open the converter, choose the source language and whether the script is an indicator or Expert Advisor, then choose MQL4 or MQL5 as the target. Paste the complete script rather than only its entry rule, and describe behavior that may not be obvious from code: alerts, plotted values, order sizing, stop-loss rules, session filters, or multi-timeframe data. A complete source and specific notes give the conversion process more context about the behavior you want to preserve.
The converter analyzes code structure, maps common calculations and data access to MQL equivalents, and checks generated source for common structural or syntax issues. Familiar indicators may use formula-based handling; more custom scripts can follow an AI conversion path. These approaches can help establish an editable draft, but the languages and platforms have different series, indexing, event, and execution models. A translation may need adjustments to compile or match the original behavior.
Review before use
Open the result in MetaEditor, compile it, resolve any remaining issues, and compare its chart output or trade events with the source on the same symbol and timeframe. Historical data, time zones, spread, price precision, broker settings, and order execution can all affect results. Backtest and forward-test in a suitable environment before considering live use. Automated conversion can save repetitive development time; it cannot replace code review, platform knowledge, or risk management.
Common questions
What can I convert?
The converter supports TradingView Pine Script concepts for indicators and strategies, with MQL4 or MQL5 source as the target. The exact result depends on the script and platform features it uses.
Do I get editable source code?
Yes. The service provides source code for you to inspect and compile. It does not provide compiled .ex4 or .ex5 executables.
Will the result behave exactly like my original?
Not necessarily. Platform event timing, historical data, broker rules, and language differences can change behavior. Compare and test every result.
What should I do if compilation fails?
Read MetaEditor diagnostics, review the affected lines, and adjust the generated source. Include relevant error details when contacting support.
How does the conversion work?
It analyzes the source, maps supported logic and calculations, creates target-language source, and checks common structural issues. Read the methodology.
